The NBA has announced that, for the first time, all 30 teams will participate at MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2018 Las Vegas.
NBA Summer League began in 2004 with six NBA teams playing a total of 13 games. Last year’s event featured 24 NBA teams playing 67 games. I had the pleasure of partnering with Project Spurs to cover the Spurs for three of those games (you can find the posts here, here, here and here) and witnessing the #SummerofBryn!
The 14th NBA Summer League will take place July 6-17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With all 30 teams participating a whooping 82 games will be played over the course of 12 days. Similar to previous years, each team will play three preliminary games in a tournament style format that will end with the championship game on July 17th. Teams are guaranteed to play at least five games and as many as eight.
Ticket information and complete game and broadcast schedules will be announced at a later date (i.e., this summer).
For those who have the opportunity, and do not find temperatures that are over 40 degree Celsius, I highly recommend checking out some Summer League games - it's a lot of fun!
