From the archives: Derek White and Jeff Ledbetter receive Utah Jazz Summer League Standout honours

As the Summer Spurs transition from the Utah Jazz Summer League to the Las Vegas Summer League, let’s take a quick moment to look back and a quick shout out to Derek White and Jeff Ledbetter for receiving Utah Jazz Summer League Standout honours (two players were selected from each of the four teams who participated in the mini summer event held in Utah from July 2nd to 5th).

White was obvious choice after dominating performances in all three games. His stat lines of 26-6-7, 21-9-6 and 22-6-7 clearly stand out in the box score. White was so good, it led to some speculation as to whether he would even play in Vegas, however, it appears that he is on the roster.

The 2018 Utah Jazz Summer League’s leading scorer, White tallied averaged of 23.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists. He scored 26 points and connected on five three pointers in San Antonio’s win against Memphis.

You could say that Ledbetter was a less obvious choice. TheMayor of Cedar Parkhad three gritty performances, and a technical foul to boot! While Ledbetter started off slow from a scoring persecutive, he had a good all round game one with 5 rebounds, 3 steals and was a team leading +4. In game number two, Ledbetter was on fire with 16 points on 3-5 shooting from deep, along with 2 steals. In the third and final game, he had 9 points and was 3-5 for three once again.

Ledbetter provided a spark off the bench for the Spurs, posting averages of 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals. He led all bench scorers with 16 points in San Antonio’s victory versus Atlanta.
