Over the last couple of weeks, teams have started to debut their first two new “core” uniforms, the “Association Edition” and the “Icon Edition”.  Earlier today, it was finally the Spurs turn to unveil their uniforms…[/vc_column_text][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column column_width_percent=”90″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

“The Icon Edition, previously known as the road uniform, represents the rich heritage and iconic identity that exists within each franchise. This edition utilizes the team’s primary color, a color that dominates the closets of the most diehard fans.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_width_percent=”90″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

“The Association Edition, the traditional home white uniform that all 30 teams will have in their assortment, links them as members of the most exclusive basketball club in the world. It represents an achievement that most athletes have worked their entire lives to reach.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column column_width_percent=”90″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading]A clean uniform with no surprises[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]My initial take is that these are clean looking uniforms that maintain the traditional look of the Spurs white home and black away uniforms.  As deputed (leaked?) earlier this summer, the “Spurs” font has been altered slightly by removing the silver outline and the new secondary “round” logo has, thankfully, been kept off the jersey and added to the shorts.  The Nike logos are obviously new (and work for me as a Nike fan) and the silver and white trim on the jerseys and shorts completes the traditional look.

The Icon Edition will make its first appearance when the Spurs play their first preseason game at Sacramento on October 2nd and the Kings will also get a first hand look at the debut of the Association Edition in San Antonio on October 6th.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column column_width_percent=”90″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading]Could the Community Edition uniform incorporate fiesta colours?[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]Now, this is not the end of the story – these are the first two of four “core” uniforms that will be worn by the Spurs throughout the season.  The other two core uniforms representing the athlete’s mindset and the San Antonio community will be unavailable later this fall.  It is the “Community” uniform the has a lot of fans excited, especially me, about the possibility of a fiesta themed uniform.  Spurs in the 6 previously explored what a fiesta themed uniform could look like. Since that time, my favourite design floating around on social media is a series of creations by Seth Reese with his turquoise and black fiesta designs being my two favourites.  I would buy either of these in a second – let’s hope Spurs and Nike make it happen!
