Austin Spurs are now 8-4, following loss in early Sunday game

With an early Sunday morning tip-off, the Austin Spurs struggled to find their shooting stroke and fell to the Santa Cruz Warriors by a final score 109-104. The Spurs are now 8-4 with three games remaining.

After the game, it was the defence that stood out to Spurs coach Matt Nielsen. "I think we gave them too many easy looks. I mean offensively they scored thirty seven points in the fourth. Way too much. It wasn't just the shot, I think they were doing it just way too easy", said coach Nielsen after the game.

Despite the tough outing on both sides of the court, the Spurs continued to show poise, coming back from a first half deficit to take and hold the lead for a good stretch in the second half.

"As a coach you do not want them to not end up in that position too many times", said coach Nielsen. "The guys worked they way through a lot of it and it's always a good thing knowing, kind of, that it what were are made of. Ideally if we could not put ourselves in that position all the time that would be great".

After 6 points in the first half, Cam Reynolds kept his motor running to score 14 in the second half to put up a team-high 20 points and for the Spurs, albeit on 5-14 shooting. Reynolds was also a team leading +7 for the Spurs.

"He's a confidence guy, he knows the game. He's on point. I think that is the way that scorers like him need to ride the ups and downs of this", Coach Nielsen of Reynolds. "For me he is doing pretty good while it's not dropping as much as he would like".

Anthony Mathis scored 19 points for the Spurs on 4-11 shooting. Khyri Thomas had 18 points on 6-17 shooting. You can see the pattern here as the Spurs shot 33% overall for the game.
