Earlier this week, the Austin Spursand the Raptors 905released their 2017-2018 schedules. They key date for the Spurs in the 6 family is December 31st when the Raptors 905 will host the Austin Spurs at the Hersey Centre for a New Years Eve day game that will tip at 2pm EST.
The 50-game schedule will be comprised of 24 home games, 24 road games and two games as part of the annual NBA G League Showcase in January, which will be returning to Mississauga.
With the NBA G League expanding to 26 teams this year, realignment has resulted in three divisions within each conference. The Austin Spurs will play in the South West Division and the Raptors 905 will play in the Atlantic Division. Shocking right? I think there was a missed opportunity here - it would have been fun to see the NBA G League distinguish itself from the NBA by using different names for the divisions.
The Austin Spurs open their season against the Salt Lake City Stars on Friday Nov. 3rd at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park and finish the season at home on March 24th against the South Bay Lakers.
During the course of the season, the Austin Spurs will host a variety of events and then nights, including the annual Spurs Affiliate, School House Jam, College and Career Readiness, Military and Pink Night.
Closer to home (for me at least), the Raptors 905 will start the defence of their championship on November 5th when they they play the Grand Rapids Drive at the Deltaplex arena in Grand Rapids. The Raptors 905 will finish their season at home on March 24th against the Maine Red Claws. The Raptors 905 will play at the Air Canada Centre again this season, taking on the Canton Charge on February 25th. For those looking to double up on their Raptors basketball - you can catch a double header on December 23rd when the Raptors 905 host For Wayne at the Hersey Centre (2pm tipoff) and the Toronto Raptors host the 76ers at the ACC (5pm tipoff).
